Good evening beautiful people,
I just got my W-2 in the mail. Since I am not equipped to talk to anyone about finances let alone filing taxes, I will use this opportunity to talk about a throwback money related exhibition I went to - Mark Wagner’s May 2022 exhibition at Lancaster Museum of Art dubbed Art Made by Money Made From Art.
For my Kenyan people, a W-2 is a summary sheet your employer prepares and sends to you and the IRS (Internal Revenue Services - think KRA). The sheet shows the total amount of money they (your employer) paid you in the previous year (in this case, in 2023) and how much tax was withheld locally (by Lancaster), by the state (Pennsylvania) and federally (US) - yes, we have to file local, state and federal taxes...and yes, it always feels like an exam...and because exams are best done in the morning, I am saving this task for later (we have until Tax Day = April 15th).
Back to the exhibition - Three things that made me go for this exhibition, 1) the museum is a few blocks from my apartment (the joys of living in Downtown Lancaster are such), 2) the word play, and loop, in the title of the exhibition - Art made by Money made from Art, and 3) the fact that all the art is actually made from money - the artist used $1 Bills (I cannot believe I am saying bills...America, what are you doing to me...the artist used $1 notes?)
Enjoy some pictures from the exhibition below.

I leave you with a summary about money that I previously shared from my Happiness and Wellbeing Class - yes money contributes to happiness and wellbeing but to a certain extent, money spent on others and/or experiences has a greater impact on happiness and wellbeing...than when spent on self and/or possessions.
Until the next post, I pray that we all have healthy relationships with money…and remember to file our taxes on time.
Sending love and light,
Sitawa
