Bathroom Selfies are a must: New Holland Coffee, Downtown Lancaster PA, May 2026

Happy Friday Sunshine,

And welcome to another weekly round up.

I am grateful for:

My business, Kibanda ya Sitawa has officially started its third year.

I started it two summers ago, and the first two years were learning curves that saw me try out various products, and test a number of production and sales avenues. I also attended a couple of local enterpreneurship gigs. Year 3 will be about building/strengthening the business structure.

Our Karibu Lancaster Greeting Cards, with the welcoming center on the front...get them on the website

As part of our celebrations, we have dropped a couple of products including a set of greeting cards. We also collaborated/supported two Lancaster businesses (more info next week).

Speaking of local businesses in Lancaster,

I worked from New Holland Coffee this week, it is a chill coffee shop in Downtown Lancaster (get the full scoop on my next post).

Because all 'disruptive' works are accompanied by a good podcast, this week I listened to (and loved):

Shrink Next Door, and Dr. Death 1-3 are WILD. From a professional perspective, they are good case studies for an ethics class. In all three cases, the medical personnel took advantage of their clients (patients) and/or the systems that are meant to safe guard clients.

1. In Shrink Next Door, the psychiatrist took advantage of his client for over 30 years, took over his business, home and bank accounts, severed his relationship with his employees, sister and nieces. I know there is an Apple TV recreation of it, but the podcast has the real people talking...definitely recommend it.

2. I have mentioned Dr. Death, the TV series, in my posts It Happened in Key West and Dirty Doctors Recap. This podcast is what inspired the TV series.
  • The first season on the podcast is the same as the one on TV, the Dallas doctor who botched almost everyone who he touched in the name of surgery.
  • The second season is different from the TV one. It follows the career of Dr Fata, a Michigan based doctor who kept diagnosing people with cancer so that he can place them on long term treatment and keep billing insurance companies.
  • The third one is season 2 on the TV series, and the one I mentioned on my posts above...the doctor who put lousy trachea on people, and the damage causing one girl to get over 100 surgeries to try to correct the damage caused.

3. I gave I said what I said, a Nigerian podcast. I think it’s one of those that can grow on you if you like conversational everyday life, advice on relationship and marriage type podcasts. Think morning driving to walk radio talk show types.

Stuff in my closet/shop that I am loving

Rocking my VCU Med School Merch -  Lancaster, May 2026

The weather is on its own calendar, and I am not complaining. The less the heat and humidity, the better for me…I have been rocking my VCU School of Med sweatshirt to keep warm (if you are new here, no I am not trying to be a doctor, but I am doing a Masters in addiction studies offered by the school of Med at VCU (Virginia, US) and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at Kings College (London,UK).

Also loving a black linen jumpsuit that I got at a Philly Nordstorm clearance rack, a pair of thrifted blue Mary Jane flats, and these two pairs of earrings (Rainbow Eye Aluminum Earrings and Bow Orange Inline Bead Earrings- they got the most compliments this week.

Weekend Plans: Netflix and Read

Got City of Girls from the Public Library - May 2026

1. I just got Elizabeth Gilbert's City of Girls from Lancaster Public Library. Some reviews said it is a slow burn, I hope I finish it.

This is the third Elizabeth Gilbert book I am reading. We have all done Eat, Pray, Love and I think I did an artist related one, will look for the title and update. I was rooting for her and the Australian man was it, but she left him to go take care of a sick friend or something, will be up to speed when I do the review.

2. I have been seeing snippets of Rio from Netflix Good Girls saying 'hey mama' and 'get in the car Elizabeth' all over social media, I want to watch the show just to get context...we all love a man who knows what he wants and goes after it (or so I think the plot is...will update if I get round to watching).

Lows:

Other than lagging behind on two research projects, and not going for my morning walks (placing the blame on the early morning business calls), I did not have any major lows this week…grateful.

Hope your week was as eventful…Wishing you a lovely weekend.

Sending love and light,

Sitawa
